Talking with Brenda: Wedding Tips

Today’s topic is: May 19, 2018

Let me set the scene for you. Your daughter Meghan Markle is getting married to Prince Harry on May 19, 2018. You have been preparing yourself to share some information with her to enable her to have a successful marriage. You have decided that there are four tips that you absolutely must share and now is the time. They are:

  • Learn everything you can abut Queen Mom, the Royal Family and  the Country. Attend formal and informal activities that you are invited to. Don’t go to those that you have not been invited to.
  • After learning the rules of the road plan a social function of your own. Invite Harry’s friends and family so that you can interact with them on a more personal level.
  • Don’t give up your personality. That’s why he fell in love with and is marrying you, not someone else. A successful marriage requires your willingness to give up some things. You didn’t grow up in the same household and you don’t do things the same way. Be open to finding a solution that works for the both of you.
  • Always remember that Queen Elizabeth is the head of the Country and the Castle. There is only one Queen of you and Harry’s household and that, my dear, is you.

Those are my tips. Now what say you?

Las Vegas is awaiting your arrival.

Hello World. This is Brenda Tucker-Jeffries, The Wedding Strategist and Author of Mother of the Bride: Stuff Happens. Today I am here to give you a special invitation to attend the Authority Maker Bootcamp being held in Las Vegas, NV, January 17-19, 2018.

Someone sent me a post asking “where are the females” in this event? My answer is we are here and we also need females to show up to make this event as diverse and successful as possible. I am calling out to my female friends, family members and supporters of them to come out and be a part of something that is designed to empower all of those in attendance – no matter what industry you are in.

Share with your bff’s so that they don’t miss out on participating in this once in a lifetime event. You want to be a part of this so click the link for the details and register. #theweddingstrategist, #motherofthebride, #authoritymakerbootcamp, #relationships. http://bit.ly/authoritymaker

Servant Leader

I know that most of you reading this post are not located in the vicinity to participate in this project but I just want to share it with you so that you can research whether or not it is available where you live. It is a awesome program!

Hi there:

I want to bring you up-to-date on one of the projects that I have been working on lately.

Prior to my becoming a published author and wedding strategist I worked for 38 years for the Federal Government. My last position of record before early retirement was one where I led a team of professionals that evaluated many of the grantees that received federal grant dollars. The purpose was to analyze the services provided and assist the grantee in improving upon those services provided to the individuals within the designated communities. Many of the grantees were not-for-profit organizations.

After retirement I joined the Speakers Publishers and Authors Association (SPAA) which is a not-for-profit organization. During the month of September 2017 I am leading an effort to raise funds for SPAA via the Savers/Unique FUNDrive Program.

Attached is a flyer identifying the items that we are collecting. At this time we are not collecting books because the facility that we will be delivering our items to is at capacity for books and cannot house anymore.

Now is a great time to de-clutter and donate gently used items. You can drop off your donation Tuesdays – Thursdays from September 12-21 between 5:00pm – 8:00pm; Saturdays, September 16 and 23 between 2:00pm – 7:00pm or Sundays September 17 and 24 between noon and 4:00pm. The address to SPAA is 371 Artists Walk, Park Forest, IL 60466, telephone 708-785-7371.

This is my way of being a servant leader and contributing to my community-at-large. Won’t you join me? Your donation will be greatly appreciated. On behalf of the Speakers Publishers and Authors Association, and Vice President of the South Suburban Chapter, I thank you in advance for your participation and making this project a success.

It happened.

Have you ever opened your mouth and heard and witnessed your grandmother’s voice and posture emanating from it?

Well I did one morning last week!!! At first it scared the BAGEEBAS out of me and then, after about 10 seconds later a smile took over my entire body as I realized that I had finally come into the powerful woman that I was meant to be.

My hope is that one day, if you have not already done so, you will experience the same.

Where’s __________?

You and your husband are spending the night at the wedding reception hotel. Your mother and brother rode along with you but are not staying over night at the hotel. Your sister and niece sent their RSVP and are expected to be there. Your brother is going to your Mothers’ house to spend the night. Since your sister and niece live in close proximity to your mother she is expecting to get a ride home with them.

About an hour or so into the reception I realize that I haven’t seen either one of them and ask myself “where’s _______________? I haven’t received a call from them, something must have come up. Stuff happens, so I immediately go into my Superwoman role and begin to solve the problem of how they are getting home. Who can I ask, that lives in the vicinity and will not be inconvenienced? What member of the team that is not staying the night at the hotel and going straight home from the reception is willing to help me out?

I ask one of the bridesmaids who has been very helpful throughout the planning of all of the wedding events and she graciously agrees to give them a lift to my Mother’s house. Teamwork makes a dream work!

The point that I am trying to make is that stuff happens and I want you to be prepared, in advance, to take care of as many of them as possible. This is just one of the 20 lessons that I learned while planning my daughter’s wedding events. I am willing to share those lessons with you so that you don’t have to learn the hard way – like I did. Go to http://www.motherofthebridestuffhappen.com and click on the link to purchase my book or better yet come out to an event that I am having on July 8, 2017.

I am re-launching my book at APS Books & More, located at 2653 S. Lawndale, Chicago, IL from noon until 3. Your purchase will include an autographed copy of my book, live entertainment and refreshments. Register at Eventbrite.com. Seating is limited.

This is your personal invitation. I am looking forward to seeing you there. Bye-bye for now.

Stuff Happens: What would you do?

Let’s role play.

You are a guest at a wedding and you have just arrived at the venue for the Reception. As you hand your keys to the valet attendant to park your car he insists that the price for parking is higher than the price that is stated in the invitation – which you just happen to have brought with you.

Question: What would you do?

A) Pay it and stay or

B) Leave
